Happenings Of The Week: From Drama To Break Up
Everything you need to live well
Drama was the major theme of the week as we saw celebrities who get bashed for actions that might have been overlooked were they normal.
From slouchy looks to highly rated events to being an alleged “double.”
Here is a rundown of the week:
Imperfect Ed Sheeran
At the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 in South Africa, British singer, Ed Sheeran performed he and Beyonce’s 2017 song, Perfect but many were not pleased with both his outfit.
For the performance, the Shape of You hitmaker wore baggy jeans, sneakers and a T-shirt underneath another T-shirt, which many felt was appropriate for a concert in a garage and not next to Beyoncé who dazzled in a sculptural pink gown.
His outfit had many fans pointing out the double standard between the expectations for male and female pop stars.
Sanctioned dress
What appears as an innocent attempt to move with the fashion of the time has turned into a looming jail term for Rania Youssef, an Egyptian actress who wore a black, lacy, transparent outfit that exposed most of her legs, to the Cairo Film Festival.
Although some opine she has a right to wear what she wants, Youssef has been charged with “inciting debauchery” by two lawyers Amro Abelsalam and Samir Sabri who are well known for taking celebrities to court.
She could serve five years if she is found guilty. Ms Youssef has since apologised on Twitter.
Love gone sour?
A few days after Cardi B and her husband, Offset gave a public display of affection-filled performance at the KIISFM’s Jingle Ball, she has revealed that they have marked an end to their love story.
The Bodak Yellow rapper took to Instagram to post a video to explain to her fans she and Offset, who is also the father of her infant daughter, Kulture, have broken up.
She, however, said they remain good friends and business partners “it’s nobody’s fault. I guess we grew out of love” while clarifying that a divorce is imminent.
“Double wahala”
There have been conspiracies and intriguing claims surrounding President Muhammadu Buhari’s health and existence.
The most widely believed being Pro Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu’s allegation that the Nigerian president died in 2017 and a cabal in a duplicitous move quickly found a doppelgänger, a Sudanese called Jubril to play the part of the deceased president.
To back this claim, there are several pictures “evidence” spotting differences circulating the internet to the chagrin of Nigerians.
However, the president has assured Nigerians that “this is the real me” while adding that his 76th birthday is in a few days.
Otedola to the rescue
Business mogul and billionaire, Femi Otedola has pledged to foot the medical bill of ailing Nollywood actor, Victor Olaotan is popularly known for his role in Tinsel as Fred Ade-Williams.
It would be recalled that Olaotan was involved in a ghastly accident two years ago that cost hm the use of his legs.
A GoFund Me page was created for the actor in order to enable people to donate towards the entertainer’s medical bills.
However, Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) took to Instagram revealed that Otedola has promised to take care of the bill.
